Former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero constant arrest by the EACC on corruption-related crimes does more harm to his reputation than that of the deputy president who has constantly been mentioned on corruption-related cases.
Though some players within the political circles claim there is no negative publicity, the political analyst states that Kidero’s endless trouble with EACC is bigger than the deputy president woes.
In 2018, Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero was arrested by anti-corruption detectives and charged in court for abuse of office, money laundering, bribery, conflict of interest and failure to protect public property.
In March 2016 the High court temporarily barred the ethics and anti-corruption commission (EACC) from investigating bank accounts belonging to Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and his wife Susan Mboya until a case they filed is heard and determined.
Kidero moved to the High Court under a certificate of urgency to challenge the Magistrate Court’s decision to grant the EACC access to his account information through the issuance of warrants.
On 28th September 2018, EACC investigators had written to the Lands Registrar seeking several documents related to the parcels to facilitate the investigations.
On April 26th, 2019 Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero was arrested by EACC officials over irregular payment of Sh68 million by Nairobi County Government.
Kidero’s Former Chief of Staff George Wainaina was also arrested.
The EACC has been investigating allegations over irregular payment made to Wachira Mburu, Mwangi and Company advocates purporting that it was irregular fees.
Also, the deputy president is facing the myriad of allegations over the corruption scandals ranging from millions to billions.
