Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has announced plan for Kenya Revenue Authority to collect taxes on behalf of th County government.
On his facebook post, the governor said that the plans also underway engage to the National Government to second us with NYS officers in revenue departments.
“We shall also emulate what Governor Oparanya did. He fired 143 revenue officers in his finance department…We will also go for their Bosses in the Finance department. Plans are underway to engage KRA to be collecting revenue on our behalf,” he said.
He adds “We shall also engage the National Government to second us with NYS officers in revenue departments. My administration is planning to integrate our system to be printing payment receipt and license instantly at the bank during payment because this is where the biggest revenue loss and theft happens,”
H further announced plans to fire more than 6 cm’s and 3 chief officers very soon for not being loyal.
“Imagine a CECM you trust most being absorbed by the so-called cartels to the extent of making sensitive decisions without consulting me as his Boss,” Sonko said.
“For example the lands and planning department has been flouting the physical planning act by allowing developers majority Chinese to put more and higher floors than the zoning of some estates or areas at a fee of millions per any additional floor, and at some point the additional floors are even given and shared between the developers and senior county officers for this kind for impunity to go on,” the governor posted.
