Former Chief of Staff in the Deputy President’s office, Marianne Kitany has requested the Director of Criminal Investigation to investigate the Meru Senator Mithika Linturi over multiple marriages.
Kitany has worked in more than 10 institutions including Kenya Polytechnic, Deacons, SmithKline Becham, Strathmore University, Hamilton Harrison and Mathews Law firm and Kenya Railways.
Senator Linturi and Kitany are in the middle of an ugly divorce. Kitany maintains that she was married to Linturi and they invested in several businesses together, even building the disputed Runda home together.
During divorce proceedings on April 4, 2019, Ms Kitany requested the court to ask the Director of Criminal Investigations(DCI) to investigate his husband for being involved in multiple marriages.
She told the court that Linturi had informed her that he was single and available, having divorced his three wives; Susan Gacheri Kimani, Mercy Kaimenyi andHellen Mumbi Kariukiat separate times.
On his part, the Meru senator denied the claims citing he was still married to Mercy Kaimenyi and had no capacity to marry Kitany.
But in a new twist, Kitany told the court that Linturi may have forged the divorce papers against his then wife, Mercy Kaimenyi, to woo her.
Kitany wants the court to summon the DCI officers to shed light on an alleged fake divorce case that he gave her and later claimed she forged it.
Kitany told the court that Linturi used the said document to convince her to marry him when he was still married to his second wife.
