Flying Squad Disbanded by DCI-New Unit Formed

The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has today Tuesday 31 December disbanded the dreaded flying squad. This is meant to improve service delivery.

Flying Squad Unit comprised of one of the highly trained officers who often responded to highly risk crimes such as armed robberies, kidnappings and even terrorism as remembered in Westgate attack.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations wishes to inform the public that after disbanding all the Flying Squad Sub-units within the Country, only the Headquarters Unit based in Nairobi remained. To replace the Flying Squad and create an auxiliary support team on identified, researched and profiled crimes, another squad has been formed and named “Sting Squad Headquarters” (SSH) that will have a maximum of 50,” stated the DCI.

The SSH officers will respond to special cases that include armed robberies, kidnappings, motor vehicle theft, sale and distribution of contraband and substandard goods.
