Police in Mombasa have obtained details of 132 people who are believed to members of the gang that is terrorizing the residents.
According to story published by People Daily Newspaper,County commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo said security officers are pursuing the suspects in all the six sub-counties in Mombasa: Nyali, Kisauni, Mvita, Likoni, Changwamwe and Jomvu.
“We have a list of 132 names which we are pursuing and we are confident they will help us bust the network of criminals in the region,” he said.
The cases of crime in the Coast region has been on rise where the gang is said to use crude weapons like machettes.
The publication further reported that on Wednesday last week,the gang injured residents before five suspects were killed by a mob and police.
Kitiyo called upon all parents within Mombasa to be part of the fight against the gangs terrorizing the residents, especially in Kisauni.
He said most of the gangs are enabled by parents, who have failed to guide the youth.
“It is upon parents to play the guidance role in their children’s careers and social lives,” said Kitiyo
