Suspected Al-Shabaab Militia Attacked, Evicted Officers From Police Camp

The suspected al-Shabaab militia has attacked and evicted police officers from their camp in Wajir according to reports where at least three National Police Reservists (NPR’s) cannot be accounted for.

In a police report filed at Khorof Harar, an unknown number of heavily armed terrorists destroyed Safaricom mast in the area before attacking the police post with motor and RPGs on Saturday, May 17, 2020.

The 26 officers were overpowered and they took refuge in nearby bushes.

The special forces from Qarsa heard the explosion and they immediately proceeded to Khorof Harar post for reinforcement.

“Only 23 officers have returned to the post and 3 are still unaccounted for. Tracing for the National Police Reservists who were guarding the masts and hospital is going on,” police said in a statement.

During the incidence, the terrorists made away with some weapons from the police camp including a mortar and two guns.
