DP Ruto Alliance with Musalia, Wetangula Will Dealt a Big Blow to Atwoli

The debate on who will take over as the western region kingpin has revived a political battle between ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi and ODM deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya.

Already Oparanya has been appointed by COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli to takes over from Musalia who is accused of hatching a plot to form a coalition with deputy president William Ruto.

Political Pundits believe that with the fallout and division of Luhya unity now one thing strongly stands out, the deputy president William Ruto might be a direct beneficiary as he might team up with whoever will feel disrespected. Already he has a bunch of leaders in the region led by Boni Khalwale who are championing his agenda.

Already Musalia and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula are said to be working on a strategy to unite the Luhya to vote as a block.

Atwoli who is a great friend to the former prime minister Raila Odinga is said to have withdrawn his favour from the two immediately reports emerged that they are holding secret talks with his nemesis William Ruto.

The DP is aimlessly seeking a political solace following a fallout with Uhuru Kenyatta, he has been in record accusing Francis Atwoli, Raila Odinga, Jubilee vice chairperson David Murathe and Nyeri MP Ngunjiri Wambugu of being behind his woes.

His ground soldiers led by Kipchumba Murkomen, Susan Kihika, Moses Kuria and former Senate deputy speaker Kithure Kindiki have been removed from influential House positions.

Political analyst cum politician Kamau Ngugi states that the DP is now trying to form a formidable force with other players in preparation for 2022.

“Whether DP is subjected to extreme humiliation for him to resign or being pushed away from the daily running of the office, he should hack out a comeback strategy to revive his career after numerous allegations of scandals,” he states.

He states that the DP can either resign from government, capitalise on his hustler vs dynasties thought or he can stay put and wait for the worst. Both choices have unique challenges and opportunities.

Mr Kamau said that the recent act of COTU S.G Francis Atwoli of appointing other western region kingpins led by Wycliffe Oparanya and devolution cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa will be dealt with him a big blow.
He states that the chances of Ruto taking advantage of the fallout and join the force for Luhya unity is very high.

“Chances of emerging victorious with this strategy is very high, Eugene isn’t such popular in the Western region and underestimating Musalia and Wetangula is the worst mistake, “he said adding that Atwoli will be dealt a big blow.

Atwoli has made it public that he will do everything possible to prevent Ruto from succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In his latest interview with JKL show, Mr Atwoli said that he is a staunch member of KANU party whose party leader is Gideon Moi who has declared interest for presidency come 2022.

By announcing his political stands, political analysts argue that the recent action of appointing new Western kingpin is aimed to create a channel for Gideon to benefit from western votes.

They argue that Atwoli might use his position to influence Luhyas’to vote for a KANU party whose candidate is Moi.

Previously, Atwoli was on record saying that he will never work with Musalia terming him a coward.

Also, Ford Kenya Leader Moses Wetangula has also blamed Atwoli for his ouster motion as the party leader.

He accused him of trying to micro-manage the western region buying out politicians who are loyal to him.

Mudavadi has made it clear that ANC will field the presidential candidate comes 2022 and a week ago, reports emerged that he might form a coalition agreement with Nark Kenya Party leader Martha Karua who unsuccessfully vied for presidency in 2013 and lost.

The two have tried to position themselves as a government critic, routinely questioning some of its policies at a time when Kenya is lacking political opposition.

This continues to cast them as a voice of reason at this time when the heart of the political class is divided between the politics of preservation and/or reinvention and rejuvenating the country’s economy from the impact of the corona pandemic.
