Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) from central region have arrested Maragua assistant County Commissioner Mr Alex mukindia.
According to the Police report seen by Newsline.co.ke, OB Number 48/15/06/2020 and reference number:51/15/06/2020.
Mr Mukindia was arrested over an allegation of demanding bribe from one john irungu, Kenneth mwaniki and john muchoki to release a land consent to them.
Upon the tip-off from the members of the public, the officers acted swiftly and arrested him.
He was locked in custody at Murang’ a police station by EACC officers from central region office_nyeri and later released on a bond.
A source who has sought anonymity has revealed that, the commissioner had requested about sh 200,000 as a bribe.
Murang’ a County Commissioner Mohammed Barre says the ACC has been released on a police bond.
Mr Barre confirmed to the media that the state officer was arrested and will be charged in the court of law.
Few Months ago, Ichagaki MCA Charles Mwangi Ng’ang’a popularly known as Ichagaki one had written a letter to interior cabinet secretary Fred Matiangi complaining of rampant cases of corruption and crime within the region.
He said that the government should take action to any civil servant who might be terrorizing locals for self-benefit.
In a letter that widely circulated on social media, the MCA had requested all the County Administrators, who overstay at one station to be always transferred after specific duration as some engage in criminal activities.
Ichagaki one, says that the ACC should carry his own cross and urged the national government through EACC to investigate other civil servants who engage in corrupt deals at the expense of service delivery.
