National Bar Owners Association of Kenya Secretary General Boniface Gachoka has call on government to take urgent action on counterfeit trade affecting liquor industry.
Gachoka said the latest survey done by uronotomy shows 60 percent of liquor in the market must be counterfeit or illicit.
“The impacts of counterfeit has whips the economy and cause harm, loss of lives , businesses and tax to the government”said Gachoka
Additionally Anti- Couterfeit Authority said 40 percent of medical supply may be counterfeit. The issue of illicit emergency pills has caused harm to many families and schools girls, resulting to school drop outs and family breaks.
The ACA says Kenya loses Ksh 800 billion annually to illicit trade with counterfeit products accounting for 9 percent of the total illicit trade.

Gachoka urged youth to come out and support the government on fight against counterfeit products saying that youth are used to supply those goods.
