A body of a middle aged man was found with a slithered throat on Saturday dawn in Kisii’s Daraja Mbili area.
Villagers suspect Cyrus Monari, 35,and a former Kisii University clerk was slaughtered by a marauding gang.
He had been putting up in the area doing small businesses and other menial jobs to eke a living, residents told journalists .
His Landlord , Lawrence Ratemo, said Monari appeared to be nursing depression.
He just walked out in the middle of the night to no where in particular
“He just walked out of the compound little did i know it was the last time i was seeing him alive,” he told journalists .
He described him as good gentle tenant
“He often paid without delay. He only told me he had severe malaria,” the landlord told journalists
He hailed from Ititi, Nyarenda, Marani.
Relatives said he was had been relying on short time jobs to eke a living since his retrenchment in 2020 from the University .
” He was generally a good person though he could on occasion drink, he was not known for any misdemeanor,” said Roda Nyanduko, the deceased’s aunt.
Nyanduko had prepared to head out to church on Sartuday morning in Marani when she got a call that her grandson had been discovered dead.
The body had severe injuries, a sign he was murdered, she told journalists.
Grace Kwamboka, the deceased’s sister, asked for a probe to help unravel the killing.
“We cry for justice, we want to know the circumstances that led to wanton killing of my brother,” she said shedding tears.
He was in a jovial mood when he visited her last and little did she know that was his last.
Police have since launched a probe.
