Singer Esther Akoth, popularly known as Akothee, has cautioned people against calling her for more information after she opened up about her recent struggles.

On Sunday evening, the 43-year-old musician expressed concern about what she has been going through in the past few months, revealing that she had come from a very difficult place.

It appears that many people have tried to get in touch with her after her statement, prompting the musician to issue a warning against contacting her, stating that it is insincere.

“It’s disrespectful to call me given my current situation. You are not calling or reaching out to me because you care. You’re calling because you want firsthand information. Stop the pretense,” Akothee said on Instagram.

She added, “When I post my issues, I know that I’ve already dealt with them outside of social media, and they’re no longer in my chest. If I don’t call you privately, don’t offer me condolences in private. Stay here on the fan page, wait for news like everyone else, you’re not special. People pretend that I don’t want them in my life.”

The mother of five indicated that she is doing well and hinted that she does not need to be consoled by people she does not know.

In her Sunday evening statement, Akothee revealed that she had been attending special counseling sessions with a psychologist and trying to recover privately for the past two months in an effort to restore her mental health.

She disclosed that her problems began after she learned certain terrifying truths that filled her with fear and plunged her into a whirlpool of thoughts.

“I’ve come from a very dangerous place, and I’ve been healing privately. I’m in my second month of therapy following the trauma I went through after learning the harsh truths that left me trembling, skipping meals, sleepless, afraid, and even losing motivation to do the things I loved,” she said.

She thanked everyone who stood by her during the difficult times and assisted her on her healing journey, including her close friends, family, and her manager, Nelly Oaks, whom she referred to as her great friend.

“Nelly Oaks has been making rapid phone calls, calling me nonstop, and he was afraid when my phone was off. My children, especially my daughters, ensured we set a timer to check on me. Rue followed me to Europe out of fear of losing me. She kept me on my feet,” she said.

She continued, “I began by monitoring my behavior, and I realized I was frequently overwhelmed by emotions for no reason, even during simple interviews. I lacked stability, and I couldn’t put a finger on it. I had never heard of Emotional Abuse until I began treatment.

I was in a terrible mental state that made me pay Ksh 50,000 per hour for one-on-one sessions with the first therapist. I was trembling, losing strength, appetite, sleep, feeling fearful, and even losing motivation to do the things I loved.”

As a result, she requested people to continue supporting her and praying for her and her family as they continue to work on things privately.
