Kiambu gubernatorial candidate and Tujibebe party leader William Kabogo have initiated efforts aimed at popularizing his bid as well as his party ahead of the August general election.
Tujibebe party which is barely six months in office has emerged as one of the fastest-growing parties in the country and has attracted political bigwigs eyeing the elective position.
Already Kabogo has announced he will use the party ticket for Kiambu gubernatorial seat ahead of the August election.
Kabogo, in his quest for the Kiambu County top seat, will now battle it out with a host of other politicians who has also declared interest among them incumbent Governor James Nyoro.
Others are vocal Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi, County Assembly Speaker Stephen Ndichu, Thika MP Jungle Wainaina, as well as former governor Ferdinand Waititu.
Kabogo on Wednesday held aspirants’ meetings and advised them to conduct peaceful campaigns as they reach out to their voters.
“We have deliberated on the 2022 Elections roadmap including the forthcoming Primaries, that will be free and Fair,” he said.
He said that he is optimistic that the party will have a representative from the grassroots level to the governor posts.
“I know I will have a good number of leaders elected on this party and this will help to push legislation and improve the livelihood of our people,” Kabogo said.
Kabogo said that he has been holding meetings with various leaders across the Country among them Uhuru Kenyatta, William Ruto and Raila Odinga.
He said that the Tujibebe party is independent and hasn’t joined any coalition agreement with any party.
“I have met with various Kiambu County grassroots leaders and Nationally and I have heard from the electorate and they have assured me of support in my gubernatorial bid as well growing Tujibebe party’s reach,” Kabogo said.
Kabogo has assured aspirants that the nominations will be free and fair and will be conducted transparently.
“I want to assure the aspirants Jibebe party will conduct peaceful and transparent nomination as we support democracy,” Kabogo said.
Among the candidates who have expressed interest to vie using the party, the ticket includes Martin Munyua Waititu (son of former Juja MP Wakapee).
Kabogo urged Kenyans to stop condemning the recent mushrooming of political parties as it is an exercise of democracy.
“The current mushrooming registration of party is a clear indicator that we are on the right side as it shows that we are maturing in terms of democratic rights,” Kabogo said.
