Allies of Nyandarua gubernatorial aspirant and former Cabinet minister Sicily Kariuki has called on the Jubilee party to consider issuing her with a direct ticket and save the resources for the Azimio popularity in Mount Kenya.
On Saturday, Sicily had a mega campaign tour in Soko Mpya, Magumu, kwa haraka, kinamba, njabini, engineer, Murungaru, ndida, Mawingu, machinery, miharati among other places.
Observers also believe the gender card could play to her advantage, but Sicily recently said that she is a proven performer.
“My main aim is to transform Nyandarua County into a devolution success story. My goal is to transform all sectors and revamp agriculture and fishing. I will also prioritize improving infrastructure,” she said.
Her allies now state that Jubilee party rules provide for nominations through consensus, nominations by delegates, party members, or a direct ticket by the party leadership.
They said that numerous opinion polls that have been conducted by various poll masters have shown Sicily as the most popular candidate to take over the Kimemia administration that has been marred with corruption allegations.
A recent survey by universal market research firm indicated that Sicily Kariuki is the most popular gubernatorial candidate within Nyandarua County.
Speaking to the media, Kinangop parliamentary aspirant and businessman Dr. James Gakeu said that the people of Nyandarua have expressed confidence in the leadership of Sicily Kariuki.
He said that she is the only minister in the Jubilee government whose docket was not involved in any scandal.
“We are rallying the Jubilee party to consider issuing our next governor Sicily Kariuki a direct ticket to deliver on her manifestos promises,” Dr. Gakeu said.
He cautioned the Jubilee party against conducting party primaries to please an individual at the expense of the bigger goal of ensuring Jubilee victory over the UDA party led by William Ruto.

“There is every indication that Sicily Kariuki will triumph over her sole competitor Francis Kimemia,” he said.
According to MCA aspirant in Leshau/Pondo, Madam Catherine Mukami said the time is now ripe for women’s leadership in Nyandarua.
Catherine who is eyeing the seat on the Jubilee ticket said that Sicily’s candidature is a motivation to women across the country and she should be supported.
She pointed out that the opinion poll commissioned by the party’s National Elections Board indicated that Sicily Kariuki will garner 90 percent against 5 percent for the incumbent.
“We should not waste money in areas where there is a clear winner but instead channel the funds to Azimio la Umoja campaigns ahead of August 9 General Election,” she said.
Professor James Mwakimu, aspiring MCA in North Kinangop, in the Kinangop constituency said that the Jubilee party risks losing the seat to UDA if they won’t follow the grassroots directive.
He said that some people are being paid to taint the reputation of the governor aspirant and his allies.
He said that already nothing has changed as the people have decided.
“Unfortunately, some people are using the proceeds of ill-gotten funds to create confusion and scuttle our incoming governor’s chances,” he said.
Former Githioro ward administrator Mr. Joseph Ndeya in the Kipipiri constituency echoing this sentiment said Kariuki should not be subjected to party primaries, because they need to concentrate their efforts on the national campaigns.
Sicily Kariuki is already on the team spearheading the election of Raila Odinga on the Azimio la Umoja ticked fronted by Uhuru Kenyatta.
Recently she led a delegation of artists to the Jubilee party who agreed to campaign for her candidature and of popularizing the Jubilee party.
