Amani National Congress (ANC) will hold its National Delegates Conference early next year to endorse Musalia Mudavadi as the party’s flag bearer in next year’s election.

At a Parliamentary Group meeting held in Karen, Nairobi, the party resolved to ratify Musalia’s nomination to fly the party’s flag in the next presidential election.

The parliamentarians who attended the meeting, which was chaired by Mudavadi, ratified a resolution made by the party’s top organ, the Amani Council, in August 2020 saying he is best to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The PG meeting passed resolutions that will see the party strengthen its support base across the country ahead of the General Election.

In a media briefing after the meeting, Mudavadi said he is ready for the 2022 presidential contest.

“I just want to reassure you, my people, that I’m fine and ready for the presidential contest. We shall fight with my competitors up to the end.

I will be there, God willing. I’ll be in the field in 2022 and there are no two ways about it,” said Mudavadi.

The meeting also resolved that Mudavadi must not play second fiddle to any other presidential candidate in the next election.

“We maintain our position that nobody should be coerced to vote for or support any leader against one’s will. Let democracy prevail and let the people decide whom they want to be their leader from the ward level up to the President,” said Mudavadi .

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malalah, Lugari MP Ayub Savula and Matuga MP Kassim Tandaza said the former Deputy Prime Minister was the best bet for Kenyans.
