Auditors question Sh7.4million payment approval to Manyota Limited by Kiambu County

An embattled private contractor who is silently fighting a flurry of alleged fraudulent tender awards in various institutions including the Judiciary is likely to suffer a major blow after internal auditors at Kiambu County flagged inspection report clearance for the supply of skips and litter bins by Manyota Limited at a cost of Sh7.4million.

Investigations by the Informer have established the auditors’ query has informed delays in settling the payment.

The acrimony has sparked internal rift amongst senior county managers with one faction pushing for settlement of the pending bill while others want auditors to formally cite the query.

“The monies in Question are yet to be settled. The auditors have raised a query and flagged the clearance report owing to quality of items delivered.” Our source intimated.

At the Judiciary, Manyota Limited has been cited as one of the firms repeatedly being awarded tenders in various regions mainly in Embu and Machakos to construct and or rehabilitate law courts at the detriment of other contractors.

Further, in what appears to be part of the mounting woes against the private contractor, in a damning whistleblowing petition, Manyota Limited is singled out in  in a multi-million desilting contract awarded by the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC)

Although the company management has since denied any wrongdoing, there are claims the tender was allegedly awarded fraudulently.

In a damning dossier addressed to the Office the President that also gravely implicates NCWSC Managing Director Engineer Nahashon Muguna dated September 1, 2021, the firm is said to have bagged the tender controversially and executed the works below per.

Manyota Ltd was awarded the controversial contract to desilt Mwagu Intake.

“Engineer Nahashon Muguna the Managing Director of Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company Limited allegedly defrauded NCWSC by contracting the firm of Manyota Limited thereby siphoning KES.28,490,914.85 (twenty eight million, four hundred and ninety million, eighty five cents) as at September 25, 2019 for the purpose of desilting Mwagu Intake.

Manyota Limited supplied skips and litter bins to Kiambu County Government in April last year.

The auditors want review of inspection and acceptance certificate issued by the county’s inspection and acceptance committee for the items in question.
