Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition expressed solidarity with Kenyan doctors over the 27-day doctors’ strike which has disrupted healthcare services, and leaving many patients without essential care.

Over 500 patients have died as a result of this crisis according to Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition.

The coalition stated that the ongoing doctors’ strike has highlighted the incompetency of the Kenya Kwanza regime in dealing with the healthcare system in the country. “These disputes have not only demoralized healthcare workers but also impacted the quality of healthcare services provided to the Kenyan population,” they emphasized.

Speaking at Oginga Odinga Foundation, Wiper Party leader Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka said that Kenya Kwanza regime has failed Kenyans.

Azimio: Ruto is a heartless tyrant

“Our Coalition acknowledges the vital role of healthcare professionals in ensuring the health and well-being of Kenyan citizens, emphasizing the need for prompt and effective resolution of their concerns. Thus, we find the ‘official’ response of Kenya Kwanza’s regime leader to be not only inadequate but completely out of touch with the people he leads,” said Kalonzo.

The “WON’T PAY; CAN’T PAY” parody that broke the extended silence speaks volumes about the regime’s regard for our healthcare workers.

Usawa kwa wote Party Leader Mwangi wa Iria stated that it is the government’s responsibility to protect the right to healthcare for all citizens and to provide healthcare workers with the assistance and resources they need to do their jobs effectively.

“Doctor’s strike is mass murder which is like genocide, Kenyans are dying every day and this government is doing nothing. We are not going to sit and watch another shakahola in this country,” said Wa Iria.

For over three weeks, the Kenya Kwanza regime denied the presence of fake fertilizer being distributed to the farmers, which they said was fake news.

The Kenya Bureau of Standards (Kebs) has already established that the fertilizers whose distribution to farmers has caused a national uproar do not meet the basic quality test. Among the fertilizer brands: Kelphos Plus, Kelphis Gold, and NPK were found to be substandard.

Democratic Alliance Party Leader Hon. Eugene Wamalwa asked the KK regime to immediately compensate all the farmers who have been sold the fake fertilizer.

“The government had failed Kenyans by selling stone fertilizer which is a threat to our country. We are worried of food insecurity and CS for Agriculture Mithika Linturi MUST immediately resign from office for the policy failure and negligence in handling the fertilizer issue,” said Wamalwa.

Azimio issues 6-day ultimatum as talks hit snag

The coalition also stated that if indeed President Ruto is serious about austerity measures, then his regime should fully support the implementation of the NADCO recommendations to reduce the travel budget by fifty percent (50%) among other recommendations.

The Kenya Kwanza’s inability to address the grievances of the striking doctors endangers the population’s health and well-being. It also undermines the legitimacy and effectiveness of Kenya’s healthcare system. “It is well documented and on show for all Kenyans to see Kenya Kwanza’s hunger for conspicuous consumption. Their mantra appears to be: ‘ME FIRST; KENYANS LATER,'” Azimio demands to KK regime.

Azimio demands to KK regime:

  • We demand that the government and all relevant parties immediately engage in meaningful and transparent dialogue with the striking doctors to find a long-term solution to the ongoing crisis.
  • All parties involved in the negotiations MUST prioritize the interests of the public and work toward a resolution that addresses healthcare workers’ grievances.
  • President William Ruto MUST demonstrate his pre-election commitment to the health sector by allocating adequate resources to improve working conditions for healthcare professionals.
  • The KK regime must honor any outstanding Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) between the government and the doctors union. They must also invest in the necessary infrastructure and medical supplies to improve the country’s healthcare services.
  • The Health Cabinet Secretary, Susan Nakhumicha, MUST immediately resign from office for gross incompetency in mishandling the doctors strike.
  • We are keenly watching and following the actions of the KK regime on these and other national concerns including the high cost of living.

  • Failure to immediately resolve the health crisis; compensate the farmers for their losses in the fake fertilizer scam; and the immediate resignation of the said CSs; Azimio will not hesitate to join the already striking workers on the streets and mobilize Kenyans in exercising their rights to assemble, demonstrate, picket, and petition.
