Former Governor Godana Doyo endorsement will be seen as a big win for the elders with his popularity seemingly growing each day across the county.

Doyo beat Hussein Tene, Muhamed Duka, Shuriye Mohamed, and Mohamed Huka in the secret Ballot conducted by elders after consultations which took place for four days, according to the council of elders chair Abdulahi Gonjobe.

According to Gonjobe the Isiolo North MP position is yet to be concluded with some clans appealing the decision with another sitting expected to be conducted to discuss the fate of Hassan Odha.

William Samoei Ruto, PhD on Twitter: "Hosted the Borana Council of Elders from Isiolo led by the chair Abdullahi Gonjobe in Karen, Nairobi County. Also present was the Woman Rep. Rehema Jaldesa.

Doyo in his acceptance speech mentioned insecurity and improper drought mitigation approaches as some of the areas that Isiolo people are dissatisfied by the current county leadership.

The elders governing council was formulated to pave way for negotiated democracy to take place in Isiolo for the first time and it will be a testing period if the decisions of the elders will be respected.

All attention will now be focussed on whether the big losers will accept the decision of the elders.

The women’s Rep position is expected to raise eyebrows after women leaders previously raised concerns over whether the Borana Council should interfere with the affirmative action seat arguing there was no systematic way of vetting women since the council lacked a structure for representation of women.

Rehema Jaldesa was preferred for CAS Mumina Bonaya,Nasibo and Mumina Konso all who had been touted by several professional women in the county, with Mumina Bonaya already showing signs of being the bigger test for the incumbent.
