Two suspects James Wandili and Moses Crusho were on Saturday arrested after they were found with elephant tusks in Bungoma town.

Bungoma south Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Benjamin Kimwele, said the two were arrested in Bungoma town while trying escape from police officers.

 Kimwele added the suspects were carrying the elephant tusks in a bag but their destination has not been established yet.

 “After they were arrested, officers from Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) came and confirmed that it was elephant tusks,” he said, adding that KWF officers are yet to establish the cost of the tusks.

 The suspects have been detained at Bungoma Police Station waiting to be arraigned in court on today.

“The suspects are detained here at Bungoma Police Station as the police officers continue with investigations to identify where the two were from and heading to,” he said.
