DCI officers in Njoro are investigating the demise of six people in separate incidences suspected to be connected to consumption of illicit brew in Njoro, Nakuru County.

Relying on an initial report by Francis Mwangi Mungai, a resident of Jowatho estate, that his 38-year-old son Michael Kariuki was found dead in his house without any previous history of illness, detectives pieced information that led them to Nakuru General Hospital where three others had succumbed from what doctors suspected to have been food poisoning.

We have established that six people have so far died and their bodies are lying at Egerton University and Nakuru Provincial Hospital Morgues.

Investigations are underway to establish circumstances leading to the death of the six. We understand the pain and devastation this loss has caused their families, friends and relatives and we mourn with them.

We laud residents of Jowatho estate for the support they have accorded our DCI team who are gathering crucial details to unravel the mysterious deaths.

While at it, we urge the public to consume products that are declared fit for human consumption and at the same time, remain keen on the expiry details of all consumables.
