A tragic mid-air collision between an American Airlines passenger jet and a US Army Black Hawk helicopter near Washington DC has resulted in the deaths of all 67 people on board.
The two aircraft crashed into the Potomac River, killing 60 passengers and crew members aboard the American Airlines flight and 3 military personnel in the helicopter.
“This is an unthinkable tragedy. We mourn together as a nation,” stated President Donald Trump, expressing his deep sorrow. Authorities are working swiftly to recover the wreckage, though hopes for any survivors are slim.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation into the cause of the crash. “We are committed to understanding what happened and preventing future tragedies,” said NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy.
This devastating incident has shocked the world, evoking memories of past calamities like the 1982 Air Florida crash. As investigations continue, authorities are urging the public to respect their ongoing efforts in research and recovery.
