Don’t Lobby Raila’s AU Job Using our Tax- Francis Awino

Bunge La Mwananchi Speaker Francis Awino has strongly criticized President William Ruto for allegedly using taxpayers’ money to support Raila Odinga’s bid for the African Union Commission chairperson position. Awino accuses Ruto of misusing funds that should benefit Kenyans for personal agendas.

“The members of Bunge La Mwananchi from all 47 counties are appalled by the president’s decision to disregard the constitution and impose the house levy. Instead of using resources for the welfare of Kenyans, he is using them to campaign for Raila for this specific position,” Awino stated.

Awino suggests that Ruto’s support for Raila’s candidacy is a tactic to distract him and gain an advantage in the 2027 elections. He urges Ruto to concentrate on improving the lives of Kenyans rather than engaging in premature campaigning for 2032.

“Kenyans have taken to the streets in protests, and instead of addressing the economy, it is regrettable that the burden on the common citizen will increase as resources are diverted to irrelevant external matters,” he concluded.
