Former CAS, Public Service, and Gender Beatrice Elachi has asked the Kenya Kwanza faction to stop criminalizing ‘rigging’ remarks made by Murang’a woman representative Sabina Chege.
Elachi who is also a former speaker of the Nairobi City County Assembly has wondered why Azimio La Umoja opponents are so concerned with what Sabina said yet IEBC has said that there is a pre-determined system of rigging.
“IEBC says there is a pre-determined system of rigging but we have criminalized Sabina Chege in a rally where people pushed her to say some words jokingly,” Elachi said.
She was speaking on the Citizen TV Day Break show.
Elachi told off the DP Ruto camp over creating unnecessary tension by insisting that elections will be rigged.
She said that the Azimio La Umoja candidate Raila Odinga has always enjoyed support across the country and that he does not need to rig.
” This is a man who has shown time and again that she has unwavering support from almost every corner in the country and you want to tell me that he will rig?”
Elachi is eyeing the Dagoreti North parliamentary seat in what promises to be a tough battle against her opponents both in the party primaries and the August 9 polls.
