Embu-Nairobi Highway will be closed at Makutano and Samson Corner to ease traffic tomorrow

President Uhuru Kenyatta and top government dignitaries will be in Kirinyaga tomorrow for the Mashujaa day celebration.

On Monday, the head of state held an exclusive meeting with Kirinyaga leaders to plan for tomorrow event.

Dr Kibicho who is also the Interior principal secretary yesterday said that the preparations are complete and they are ready to host Uhuru Kenyatta and top dignitaries.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga and deputy president William Ruto, Kalonzo Musyoka, Gideon Moi and Musalia Mudavadi are also expected.

To ease the traffic, Central Regional Commissioner, Wilfred Nyagwanga, has said marshals will be deployed to guide motorists on alternative routes.

He said that to ensure ease, the Embu-Nairobi Highway will be closed at Makutano and Samson Corner.

“To ensure smooth flow of traffic during tomorrow’s Mashujaa Day celebrations, the Embu-Nairobi Highway will be closed at Makutano and Samson Corner, “he said.

Sections of the road likely to experience traffic snurlup include; the Kenol Township where pavement works are ongoing, Murang’a Teachers Training College where the Carriageway is shifting from the new road to the existing road as well as Saba Saba bridge where construction is ongoing.

In a public notice published on Friday, Kenha gave an advisory on which roads will be used by attendees as well as issue caution for traffic congestion on selected roads.
“Members of the public attending the celebrations will access the venue via the Kenol-Sagana- Marua road which is currently under construction,” Kenha Director-General Kung’u Ndungu said.
