Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Wednesday expressed gratitude for the flourishing partnership with development partners, highlighting the importance of continuous engagement in fostering collaborative development efforts.
Speaking at the Second Development Partnership Forum held at the Official Residence in Karen, Gachagua underscored the forum’s role in high-level dialogue and a holistic approach to development programs and projects.
Gachagua noted the significance of optimal absorption of donor funds for the benefit of the Kenyan people, emphasizing the need for intensified engagement through Joint Sector Working Groups and meetings under the forum’s auspices.
“With the various shocks occasioned by climate change, including floods, severe drought, and other challenges that have become common in our country, we are prioritizing building resilience together with our partners to avert losses of lives and property,” said Gachagua.
On behalf of President William Ruto, Gachagua conveyed the government’s gratitude for the continuous support from development partners. The forum’s co-chairs, Ambassador of Germany Sebastian Groth and United Nations Resident Coordinator Stephen Jackson, along with Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, Secretary to the Cabinet Mercy Wanjau, and several Cabinet Secretaries, were in attendance.
The presence of these high-ranking officials highlighted the importance of the forum in driving Kenya’s development agenda.
The forum saw participation from key government officials including Cabinet Secretaries Njuguna Ndung’u (National Treasury and Economic Planning), Aden Duale (Defence), Moses Kuria (Public Service, Performance and Service Delivery), Rebecca Miano (Investment, Trade & Industry), Soipan Tuya (Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry), Dr. Alfred Mutua (Tourism and Wildlife), Zachariah Njeru (Lands), Principal Secretaries Chris Kiptoo (Treasury), Julius Korir (Water), James Muhati (Economic Planning), Festus Ng’eno (Environment), Jonathan Mueke (Livestock).
Alex Wachira (Energy), Mohammed Daghar (Transport), Salome Beacco (Correctional Services), Abdi Dubat (EAC Affairs), Dr. Belio Kipsang (Education), and Ismail Maalim (Youth Affairs and Creative Economy). Ambassadors and representatives of respective agencies were also present, demonstrating a unified commitment to Kenya’s development goals.
The Second Development Partnership Forum reaffirmed Kenya’s dedication to collaborative development, resilience building, and the effective use of donor funds to improve the lives of its citizens.
