How Sh1 Million Daily For 100 Days From Uhuru Kenyatta Made Ringtone Rich

Gospel artist Alex Apoko alias Ringtone swims in money and loves talking about what he owns and at what cost.

There are claims he is worth over Sh500 million with wealth ranging from a house in Runda, another in Karen, others in Eldoret and Kisii and five top-of-range cars.

There has been questions how the former orphaned street boy ended up with such enviable wealth and especially the Karen house said to sit on over five acres of land.

In terms of material achievement Ringtone has beat his fellow hardworking musicians tenfold.

In a past interview he said he was gifted the Karen land by late owner Roger Robson but it has stirred a legal battle roping in Robson’s lawyer Guy Spencer Elms and city businesswoman Agnes Kagure Kariuki.

Interesting however is how Ringtone claims he made lots of money from Jubilee campaigns in 2013.

In a recent interview Ringtone said he started off selling his VCDs and branded t-shirts to high schools making between Sh70, 000 and Sh150, 000 per school and would visit 10 schools every week.

“I made a lot of money school and bought my first car, a Nissan Patrol” he said.

His breakthrough came when he met then Minister of Finance Uhuru Kenyatta at Kitale during the homecoming of Eugene Wamalwa.

He performed his “Talanta” song which Uhuru liked and invited him to perform during the launch of TNA party.

“I was not paid for performing during the launch but Wamalwa urged me to think of a campaign idea and forward to Uhuru” he narrated.

Ringtone picked his friends idea of branding trucks with people’s images and was accepted by Uhuru. He would get Sh1 million daily for over 120 days to run the campaign roadshows.

“I was assigned Kisii, Nyamira, Narok, Kajiado, Machakos and Kitui. I got Sh1 million everyday to get a truck, brand it, get musicians from regions we visited, dancer and pay them” he said.

He claimed Uhuru would call every evening to find out how he was faring.

Ringtone claimed out of the Sh1 million he spent less than Sh400, 000 and the rest he saved.

“I made a lot of money and that is how I ended up buying the house and cars” he revealed.
