My name is John Kibe from Nairobi mathare area .  Am a fruit vendor in mathare market. I started working as a fruit vendor after I lost my job as awaiter in a hotel in town.

One day after a work I heard a knock on my door and two men got in. They identified themselves as plain policemen .They arrested me saying I was among the robbers who stole from the neighborhood and pickpocketing people.

I denied trying to tell them I earned my living genuinely but the could not take any of my words.They said they had good sources who told them of what I did. They didn’t have any evidence yet they took me in.

We were arrested and a phone was planted on me saying I had stolen it. I was sentensced to five years in jail. Everything happened so fast I was even confused .I could not believe what was happening.From losing my job to now going to jail.

On my third year in jail I had already given up with life. I was already desperate. Not until one day one of the officers came and told me to walk out. I was  clothes to change into I did not understand what was happening. I was told I was free to go I just felt confused, I never knew if I was supposed to be happy or worried of where to start.

Just as I was walking out I saw my brother running towards me. We hugged as I cried uncontallably
