Younger brother of the late benga musician John De’Mathew has opened up about his family.
David Maina alias De’Mathew Junior says he is a proud father of nine children, which is unusual for Kikuyu men of his age.
The 47-year-old reveals he has one wife and two grandchildren.
“I am a strong family man. I have seven boys and two girls. Besides music I am very responsible on family matters” Junior says.

He is the sixth born in a family of nine and though he came to music limelight in October last year after his brother’s death, Junior has been in the industry since 1990s.
“My first album was in 2000. I have done about 45 songs but I struggled to make a name unsuccessfully. I even abandon singing from 2010 to last year” he says.
He founded Gathiru-ini Les Les band while John De’Mathew had Mbogo-ini Stars Band that he left in hands of their younger brother Evans Mburu.
