The gospel artist of the hit songs; Githe Tiwe Ngai and Muheani (Feat. Sammy Irungu) walked to a busy road early in the morning of 2010 and waited to jump on the way of a speeding vehicle.

The cheerful lady narrates what prompted the idea of suicide and how she overcame and took a positive turn in her life.

She had scored 397 marks out of 500 marks in KCPE but had been enrolled in a lowly school. She felt disregarded and started becoming a naughty student as a way of punishing her parents.

In 2010 she was in Form three and had quarreled with nearly all relatives that she felt she was not worth living anymore.

She planned to either hang herself, take poison or hurl herself to speeding vehicle. She settled on the idea of dying on the road.

“It was in March on a Sunday I woke up at 4am and walked to the main road in Nakuru. My intent was to throw myself in front of speeding vehicle but when I got there I sat down and started recalling things I have gone through. I wept and despised myself but a good idea changed my intent” Phyllis confesses.

Phyllis was born in Bahati, Nakuru County and when she was in Form one she dropped and became a house-help but later she was taken back to school and here her troubles started.

She lived with her aunt when she went back to school but quarreled with her a lot. She say she felt tired of her and went to live with her brother but quarreled with his wife.

“I looked at myself and I thought I was the problem. I had fought with many relatives that I felt I didn’t have relationship skills. I opted to stay alone and that moment the thought of committing suicide came” she says.

She opted to embrace positivity that changed her life for the better and today the mother of two is a celebrated musician.
