The 2007/08 post-election violence victims in the country have urged the government to implement the Truth, Justice, and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) report before elections.

Through the national IDPs Network, the victims said the implementation of the report would be a major milestone to the government commitment to settle the issue of IDP’s saying most of them have been neglected.

Led by the group’s county coordinator Lucy Njeri, they said the TJRC report provided clear guidelines on how to conclude resettlement of IDPs countrywide.

She observed that the president should work on fulfilling his promises to the IDPs yet to be resettled as part of his legacy before he leaves office.

“We urge the president to ensure the report is made public, we tabled our views on the matter and we needed the same implemented before the next government takes charge.

According to Njeri, the resettlement program was marred with numerous land disputes saying that some lands have never been subdivided with others grabbed by those mandated to guide the process.
