A Member of County Assembly (MCA) from Isiolo, Abdullahi Golicha Maje, 27, has been arrested in connection with drug trafficking, according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The arrest, which took place on the outskirts of Isiolo town, involved a joint operation conducted by officers from the Transnational Organized Crimes Unit and a multi-agency team.
The MCA, representing Chari Ward, was apprehended alongside another suspect, Nura Abdi Diba, 25.
The two were stopped within Isiolo town while driving a Toyota Land Cruiser, and the subsequent investigation led the team to Nura Abdi Diba’s residence at Kambi Garba Estate on the outskirts of Isiolo town.
During the operation, law enforcement officers discovered 57 stones of bhang (cannabis) concealed in the house. The illicit substances were stored in six gunny bags and were subsequently seized as evidence.
The DCI reported the arrests and the seizure of the prohibited herb on Friday, emphasizing the collaborative efforts of the law enforcement agencies involved.
Following their apprehension, both suspects were transported to the DCI Headquarters on Kiambu Road for further processing. The DCI has initiated a thorough investigation into their alleged participation in the illegal trade of drug substances.
