William Kabogo officially assumed office as the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy on Monday during a handover ceremony at the ministry’s headquarters in Nairobi.
He succeeded Acting CS, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who had held the position since December 2024 following a Cabinet reshuffle.
In his remarks, Kabogo underscored his commitment to accelerating Kenya’s journey toward digital connectivity.
He described the ministry as a key driver of economic transformation through wealth and job creation, emphasizing the need for collaboration to achieve its goals.
“This morning, I officially assumed office as the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, taking over from Acting CS, Prime Cabinet Secretary H.E. Hon Musalia W Mudavadi , during a handover ceremony at the Ministry Headquarters in Nairobi. Our accelerated journey to a digitally connected Kenya starts now. This ministry is central to driving wealth and job creation, and I am committed to collaborating with the team, Cabinet colleagues, and stakeholders to achieve this vision,” Kabogo stated.
The new CS outlined plans to prioritize partnerships with the private sector, innovators, and international organizations to unlock the potential of Kenya’s ICT sector.
He also stressed the importance of inclusive policies that would ensure all citizens benefit from the country’s digital transformation.
Kabogo expressed his appreciation for his predecessor, Musalia Mudavadi, commending his leadership during the transition period.
The handover ceremony marked the beginning of Kabogo’s tenure as he pledged to position Kenya as a leader in the digital economy.
