Member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), Kanini Kega, has alleged the existence of a hidden hand using Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro to politically fight Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Kega stated that the political audacity displayed by Nyoro is unusual, considering he is still relatively young and serving his second term.
“I believe there are external forces pushing Nyoro to initiate political battles between him and Gachagua. He cannot mobilize many MPs without ‘blessings’ from certain individuals,” Kega said in an interview with a television station on Thursday.
Nyoro has been strategizing politically, aspiring to become a leader and political spokesperson for the Mount Kenya region.
However, Kega cautioned Nyoro, stating that it is too early for him to launch a presidential campaign for 2032.
“It’s too early for Nyoro to declare his intention to run for the presidency. We don’t even know if we will be alive in 2032. As a leader, I advise him to be cautious of the MPs accompanying him, who claim they will support him in his presidential ambition,” Kega remarked.
Meanwhile, Kega condemned the actions of leaders from Murang’a County, stating that it brings unwarranted political divisions in the Mount Kenya region.
According to Kega, the complaints from these leaders that Murang’a County has not produced a President, Vice President, or Deputy President previously are politically self-centered, as many other counties have not produced such leaders either.
“The excuse that Murang’a County has not produced significant political leaders is baseless. It should be noted that many counties, such as Nyandarua, Kirinyaga, Meru, among others, have not produced Presidents, Vice Presidents, or Deputy Presidents either. Therefore, they should wait for their turn,” Kega emphasized.
