ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has said that the government is ready to actualize the programs signed in MOU between Kenya and India In December 2023 that seeks to diversify Kenya’s programmes and enhance its technological infrastructure.
The meeting in Nairobi was attended by India’s High Commissioner to Kenya Her Excellency Ms. Namgya Khampa among top other officials.
During the session, emphasis was placed in the need to grow the Entertainment and Film Industry in Kenya by benchmarking its counterpart whose movie industry is flourishing.
Speaking during the meeting, Kabogo said that the two Countries through their respective ministries are seeking to implement Digital Transformational Initiatives suggested by the MoU.
He added they intend to foster closer cooperation, exchange of experiences as well as digital technologies-based solutions, pin-pointing focus on the enhancement of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).

“The MoU intends to promote closer cooperation and exchange of experiences and digital technologies-based solutions in the implementation of digital transformational initiatives in the two countries; with specific focus on enhancement of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI),” Kabogo said adding that Kenya and India are keen to tap into the rich culture, technological and innovation prowess of the two countries.
He added that there are plans to transform Kenya Broadcasting Corporation(KBC) to a contemporary and well-furnished media house in order to match up to its role as a national broadcaster.
He was also invited to the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) taking place in Mumbai in May, where media CEOs, prominent entertainers and creative minds from around the globe converge.
Kenya and India are members of international organizations like the United Nations, Non-Aligned Movement, Commonwealth of Nations, and others, where they often cooperate.
The two Countries have been cooperating in several areas that ranges from trade, technology ,entertainment, tourism and agriculture.
