A young Kenyan is worried after his pricey car he insured with a known insurance company was taken to place he is yet to be informed about.

For seven months, Sammy Kiarie has not seen his Volvo XC60 that he bought for Sh3.3 million early last year.

He insured the car with Pioneer General Insurance Limited through their brokers Minet Kenya Insurance Brokers Limited in June 3 last year but the car got an accident the same month.

The insurer took the car promising to either repair it or buy him another one but they went quiet.

The car in question a Volvo XC60.

He had paid a comprehensive insurance cover of Sh116, 500 but since July last year they have not solved his car.

They don’t tell him where they took his SUV.

“I don’t know what is happening. Where is my car and why are they taking this long to compensate me?” he asked.

The last time they talked to him late last year they told him the car was awaiting authorization of repairs.

“Pioneer insurance has refused to follow up on the matter even after constant efforts to reach them” he said.

Adding; “At the moment I don’t know where my car is and in what state. I raised the issue with The Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) but I am yet to hear from them. I am thinking of raising the matter with the police”.

He is forced to spend a lot on hiring cars but at the moment the Insurance Regulatory Authority has vowed to take action on Pioneer Insurance and the brokers Minet.

Minet responded saying;

The brokers Minet Kenya.

“We acknowledge receipt of the complaint below and we have equally escalated to senior management for their intervention with Sammy Kiarie separately”.
