The county Assembly of kiambu has today rejected five out of 10 nominees presented by Governor Kimani Wamatangi to be in his cabinet.
The nominees rejected include Nancy Njeri kirumba, Margaret waithera riunge, Salome wainaina, Elias Maina and Wilfred Kiara.
The assembly members through debate gave reasons for rejection as the nominees lacking requisite experience or educational background that befitted the portfolio nominated.
Those who were appointed to be county executive committee member include David Kimani to head water, environment, energy and natural resources, Osman Korar to head youth, sports and communication, Samuel Mugi to head roads , transport, public works and utilities, Nancy Muthoni to head tourism trade, industrialization and investment and Bibiane Waiganjo who is to head education docket.
According to Leader of Majority Godfrey Muceke who presented the nominees to the assembly for approval said that all nominees underwent scruitnity in the assembly appointment committee and were awarded marks on how they faired during interviews.
Muceke said that the assembly was autonomous and was no way influenced by the executive for their decisions.
Joe Kigara MCA Ngenda Ward and minority leader said that the house rejected and approved nominees on merit and those who did not make it the assembly had interviewed them and were found not fit to head the dockets they were nominated for.
Kigara said that for kiambu county to move in the right direction the cabinet need competent persons and with experience to serve kiambu people and to advise the governor accordingly.
The governor now will have to present another five nominees to fully constitute his cabinet.
