Othaya parliamentary aspirant Dr Joseph Kiragu who is a nephew to former President Mwai Kibaki has announced economic revival once elected the next member of parliament in the August 9 election.
Dr Kiragu is a lawyer and a medical doctor said he has what it takes to be the MP in august to not only address issues affecting the local community but also transform their lives.
About two weeks ago, Kibaki’s family endorsed him for the seat and he will be expected to face off with the Gichuki Mugambi (incumbent), Kagwe Muchiri (TND candidate), Ngunjiri wa Macani and Wanyanga Cecelia, among others.

Former Othaya MP Mary Wambui is said to be backing his bid as she won’t contest in August.
He recently resigned from Kenyatta National Hospital where he was a medical doctor.
During an interview with the Media at Othaya town on Tuesday, Dr Kiragu promised supporters that, should he get elected, his administration will focus on boosting the consistency’s gross domestic product and completing several stalled projects.
He said that his decision to vie on the PNU party ticket is due to its strong ideologies and respect that it commands due to its founder Mwai Kibaki.
“We can implement these stalled projects that will in return increase job opportunities to our youths, “he said.
He further promised to fast-track electrification of remaining villages that are still in the dark as well as improve road infrastructures.
“There are many things to be done here in Othaya. If I am elected as the next member of parliament, I will make sure that all the pending roads, water and power projects are completed in the shortest possible time (residents) to have access to economic opportunities,” he said.
He further promised to economically empower women.
“I will support women empowerment projects and create awareness on how women can access money from the various empowerment funds championed by the government to improve on their socio-economic wellbeing,” he said.
