“The deputy president has shown his real identity and he should stop inciting the people of Mount Kenya region during his campaign rallies,” Wachira said.

Deputy President William Ruto has come under fire from the Kikuyu Council of Elders for reigniting the 2022 succession battle.

Speaking on Thursday at their office elders led by Wachira wa Kiago and Ndung’u Gaithuma (Kiama Kiama) said that the deputy president is too ambitious in his presidential bid.

Chairman Wachira Kiago said that deputy president William Ruto’s hunger for becoming the next president is worrying and he risks being cursed if he continues attacking Uhuru Kenyatta and Mama Ngina Kenyatta.

He said that he should borrow a leaf from Raila Odinga who has severally attempted to vie for the presidency without success.

“The deputy president has shown his real identity and he should stop inciting the people of Mount Kenya region during his campaign rallies,” Wachira said.

He added that the same vigor he has in Mount Kenya while campaigning should also be portrayed in the rift valley region.

“The Kikuyu community resolves that we will not tolerate any acts or utterances that could lead to bloodshed and destruction of life and property. We urge all Kenyans to reject incitement to violence and disorder for political reasons,” Wachira said.

Kiama Kiama national chairman Ndung’u Gaithuma reacted to recent utterances by the deputy president urging Boda Boda youths to ambush police stations and take their motorcycles.

Wagaithuma said that such a move would lead to bloodshed and should not be tolerated at any move.

“I’m calling to Rift valley elders to warn their son deputy president William Ruto to campaign peacefully without inciting the public against each other, ‘he said.

Elders said that attack on Kikuyu is aimed at inciting the community against one another for political purposes.

The council further defended their move of supporting former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
