Interior Cabinet Secretary nominee Kithure Kindiki has expressed strong confidence in his suitability for reappointment to the ministry.
During his vetting session in Parliament, Kindiki highlighted his achievements over the past 21 months, emphasizing his efforts to maintain national security.
“I am confident in my suitability for reappointment because, throughout my tenure, I have managed to keep the country relatively safe, particularly in our fight against terrorism,” Kindiki stated.
Responding to queries from the Committee on Appointments, Kindiki noted that despite ongoing threats, his tenure has seen significant stability.
“While we faced terror threats, the country has remained stable under my watch. We have achieved a notable reduction in crime, including a 75% decrease in banditry,” he explained.

Kindiki also underscored his extensive engagement with local communities, stating he has visited all 47 counties, sometimes multiple times, to address security issues.
He reiterated his commitment to upholding the principles of Article 73 of the Constitution, which mandates public officers to act with integrity and accountability.
Kindiki is the first nominee to face the vetting panel, with five other Cabinet Secretary nominees scheduled for review this Thursday. President William Ruto has re-nominated Kindiki for the Interior Ministry following a Cabinet reshuffle.
