Kwale County residents are filled with optimism following the launch of the Ksh 1.4 billion Last Mile Connectivity Project, which is set to provide electricity to over 12,700 households.
The initiative, flagged off by President William Ruto at Kiwegu Secondary School in Vanga, is expected to transform the region’s economy and improve the livelihoods of thousands.
Speaking at the launch, President Ruto underscored the importance of electricity in unlocking economic potential.
“This initiative is a powerful step toward unlocking the potential of our region. Electricity will empower our farmers and bolster the blue economy,” he said.
Beyond agriculture, the project also aims to improve education. During the event, the President commissioned newly equipped classrooms and a modern laboratory at Kiwegu Secondary School, reaffirming his commitment to quality education.
“Every child deserves access to quality education. With this new infrastructure, we are ensuring that our students have the tools they need to succeed,” he added.
Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya lauded the initiative, emphasizing its benefits beyond agriculture.
“Access to electricity is crucial for our development. It not only supports agriculture but also improves healthcare services and overall living conditions,” he noted, earning applause from the crowd.he said.
