Laikipia deputy governor drops senatorial bid for Maina Njenga of KANU

Laikipia deputy governor John Mwaniki shelved his senatorial bid in support of Maina Njenga.

Maina Njenga is vying on KANU ticket. Taking to his social media page, deputy governor posted the following.

Yesterday, 24th July 2022, I relinquished my senatorial bid, following a consultative process with other Azimio partners led by Rt.Hon. Raila Odinga.

This is in a bid to harness and push the best agenda for the Azimio coalition in Laikipia.

I want to thank my campaign staff, volunteers and supporters, accross Laikipia county for their invaluable support during my campaign. Your dedication to my campaign has not gone unnoticed.

I also want to thank my party Jubilee and partners in the Azimio coalition and all those who were contesting under the Azimio umbrella.

I shift my focus to pushing the Azimio agenda far and wide in Laikipia county and call on all my supporters to join me in extending our unreserved support for Azimio candidates to ensure that Azimio forms the next government.

Finally I wish to thank Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga for promising to include a son of Laikipia East in his government.
