Man, 24, stabbed to death by robbers riding on Motorcycle at Ridgeway

A family in Ridgeways, Kiambu County is crying for justice following the death of their son who was killed by robbers riding on a Motorcycle along Ridgeway on Sunday.

Mr. Keagan Githua 24 years was working with Kenya RE after he recently graduated from Strathmore University where he studied Information Technology.

Deceased mother, Lucy Githua told the media at their home that his only son Githua was stabbed on the chest as he resisted the order and was pronounced dead upon being taken to AAR hospital along Kiambu road by a Good Samaritan.

“Keagan Githua 24yrs old was stabbed by thugs on Boda boda on Ridgeways road as he walked home. They attempted to steal a phone from him but he resisted. He was immediately rushed to the hospital by a Good Samaritan. Sadly he died of heart-knife injuries on arrival at the hospital,” Lucy Githua.

She said that that the family will hold a memorial service on Sunday 6th November 2022 at Ridgeways Baptist Church from 3.00 pm.

She called on the government to protect Kenyans by regulating the boda boda sector which has left many dead and impaired.

Roni Karina (cousin) said the burial services will be held next week on Wednesday on Kahuhia, Murang’a County.

Mr. Karina said that the family has organized a peaceful walk on Monday from 5 pm to 7 pm.“The burial service and ceremony will be held on Wednesday, 9th November 2022 in Kahuhia, Muranga County,” he said.

The family has requested the government to act on rogue Boda Boda operators who have been terrorizing the locals.

The report by the National Crime Research Centre- Fighting Crime Through Research covered 2018 established that some riders are involved in serious crimes such as robbery with violence and have caused accidents that have left many impaired and dead.

For instance, in 2018 alone, the riders caused 3,877 deaths through dangerous riding, stole 3,774 times, breached public order and created public disturbances 3,328 times, and stole motorcycles and motorcycle parts 3,227 times.

There were 2,778 cases of assault involving riders, 2,578 cases of robbery and robbery with violence, 2,570 instances of riding under the influence of alcohol, 2,415 cases of possession and usage of dangerous drugs, 2,053 instances of handling and trafficking of dangerous drugs and 1,884 cases of murder involving the riders.
