When he left his village in Mugoiri area of Kiharu Constituency, Murang’a County, Alex Mwangi who is popularly known as Alex wa Jamii Pishori rice wanted just some hustle to eke a living from.
Alex moved to Mwea in the neighbouring Kirinyaga County to work in the rice farms but today he is a millionaire with a popular brand rice.
He is a big name in the airwaves and especially on Kameme FM and Kameme Tv where a day never ends without a presenter mentioning him.

His fame has since expanded to other radio stations like Gukena FM of the Radio Africa Media Group but it is in the Mediamax Limited Owned-stations where he rules the airwaves.
He is among the top ten fans of Kameme radio.
Amongst Kikuyu musicians he is also a big friend who gets a mention in hit songs.

“I have been a big fan of Kameme FM since 2009. When I am in the farm, driving, in my office or at home I stay tuned to Kameme FM” he says.
The businessman is a jovial millionaire who spends days in his farms in Mwea planting, harvesting and during rice which is later packaged as “Jamii Pishori Rice” and supplied to major and small outlets across the country.

He is married to a lady he says they met in the rice farms as they worked as casual labourers.
Being a big fan of radio stations has earned him a fame he says helped build his brand name.
“I don’t struggle to seek business deals especially outlets for my products. Even my workers just need to mention my name and to their surprise they are told I am known” he says.

Adding; “Customers and businesspeople buying and selling my products ask my employees where I am. They say how they know me on airwaves”.
He is said to support musicians by funding production of their songs, a move that has publicised his name and products tenfold as compared to how it could be if he was advertising them using the conventional way.
