More than 1000 leaders will campaign for Raila Odinga in Mount Kenya region

More than 1000 leaders from the Mount Kenya region have declared to campaign for Raila Odinga across region ahead of the August general election.

This was revealed by Kiambu governor James Nyoro who said that the region will support Raila’s presidential bid as a sign of support of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

On Saturday, Mr Odinga addressed his supporters at Thika Stadium where he was franked by leaders from across the Country.

Among those present included Governor Martin Wambora, Lee Kinyanjui, Francis Kimemia, Nderitu Mureithi, Homa Bay County Governor Cyprian Awiti, Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, Peter Munya, Ann Kananu and Cecile Kariuki.

Others include Former presidential candidate Peter Kenneth, Maina Kamanda, Wanjiku Kibe, Kanini Kega among others.

Speaking. Raila Odinga said his Azimio la Umoja movement which he said brings together all Kenyans will win the presidency.

He called on Kenyans to support it and shun leaders who are inciting Kenyans against each other.

He said that the Azimio movement is a Tsunami that will defeat the tangatanga movement and send them to Kamiti prison.

Mr Odinga promised that once elected he will initiate social protection fund for single mothers while also introducing; baba’ care.

The former prime minister said that his administration will put the youth at the core of his government with interest-free loans to start businesses.

Leaders in blame game over organisation of Azimio Thika rally

Kiambu governor James Nyoro said that people should not be duped to elect deputy president William Ruto who has no agenda for the Country.

He said that already leaders from the Mount Kenya region have agreed to campaign for Raila Odinga.

“Before we came here at the Stadium, we had a meeting at Mount Kenya University with over one thousand leaders from Mount Kenya and especially youths and they have agreed to be the ambassador for Raila Odinga,” He said.

Nyoro said that president Uhuru Kenyatta is aware of the meeting and they have his blessings.

Nyoro said that the leaders resolved they would stick with Raila to the end, adding that he has the experience and is committed to solving issues affecting Kenyans.

They cited Raila’s commitment to devolution, unity among leaders and his plan to identify markets for miraa and other agricultural produce.

They asked him to deal with problems of lack of markets, inadequate infrastructure, insecurity, drought and boundary disputes.

“We have resolved to support Raila as the next president. His working relationship with President Kenyatta has brought stability in the country, “he said.

Embakasi North parliamentary aspirant Wangoro Mwangi said that, Mr Odinga is an experienced leader and Kenyans should trust him.

Wangoro said that the unanimous endorsement by various leaders across the country is a clear indication that he can deliberate the Country from bad leadership.

“We also support his agenda of shared prosperity and inclusivity. We believe this is possible because Raila is a man who delivers what he promises.”Wangoro said.
