The Head of the Ministers, Musalia Mudavadi, has urged opposition leaders from Luo Nyanza to end what he termed as flip-flopping behavior.
Mr. Mudavadi, who previously served as the Deputy President, has called on these leaders to declare their position regarding their willingness to work with President William Ruto.
He made this statement after governors from the region welcomed President Ruto, who embarked on a four-day tour to launch development projects.
Previously, ODM leaders, including some governors from the region, had criticized certain ODM MPs who visited the President at the State House in Nairobi and announced their cooperation with his government.
The President focused his campaign in Luo Nyanza, which is the stronghold of the leader of the Unity Coalition, Mr. Raila Odinga, starting from October 6th.
Mr. Mudavadi also criticized leaders from Nyanza for displaying bias after all governors warmly received the President.
He claimed that opposition leaders from the region had incited ODM leaders from Western Kenya against welcoming the President and boycotting his activities in the area.
Mr. Mudavadi stated that leaders from Nyanza are driven by ill intentions, aiming to prevent Western Kenya from benefiting from the progress implemented by the national government.
“The President visited Nyanza, where he brought positive developments and was warmly received by all the governors from that region. It’s time for them to stop thinking that they alone deserve to benefit from the national government,” he said.
When President Ruto visited Siaya County, he was welcomed by Governor James Orengo and pledged Sh100 million to fund the construction of Ugenya Level 4 Hospital.
The project will be executed in partnership between the national government and Siaya County, which will contribute Sh50 million. The President also stated that his government would collaborate with Siaya County to equip the hospital once its construction is completed in four months.
Furthermore, Dr. Ruto contributed Sh5 million to the Ugenya Medical Training College and an equal amount for Inungo Primary School. He also donated Sh3 million to Urenga Primary School and Sh30 million for the construction of a rice processing factory in Siaya County.
