Deputy President William Ruto has called upon Mt.Elgon residents to vote wisely and support Kenya Kwanza from MCA to presidential votes.

Speaking during his campaign tour at Kaptama, Ruto wooed the crowd to support him for the presidential seat, Lusaka for the gubernatorial seat, Wetangula for the senatorial position but had rough time proposing a candidate for the parliamentary position due to the crowd reaction.

“I’ve read your reactions and I’ve known your desire as people of Elgon famously known as Kapkugo, you’re at liberty to choose your favourite candidate but please vote wisely,” Ruto advised.

The second in command also shunned away from openly showing his support to any of the MP aspirants present including the incumbent Fred Kapondi, Evans Chemwotei of Ford Kenya, Allan Chemaiyek and Jane Chebet both independent candidates.

“I urge all of you to campaign peacefully and avoid any sort of clashing, whoever the people will decide I’ll work with that one,” the Deputy President reiterated.

Accompanying him was Moses Wetangula and Didimus Barasa whom in their speeches condemned the incumbent MP Fred Kapondi for being undecided and accused him of betraying Ruto.

“Wangamati, Wamunyinyi and Eseli  are Raila’s projects and any politician in Mt.Elgon who associates with them are definitely Azimio puppets,”Wetangula said.

“It’s not right that some politicians walk with Ruto during the day and eat with Raila in the night, this is utmost betrayal that we shall not tolerate at Kenya Kwanza camp,” stated Didimus.

In his defence, Kapondi assured Ruto that under his leadership, Mt.Elgon is fully behind him and his loyalty to the party and its leader is still unshakeable.

“Wetangula should show some respect to us, let him know that the people of Mt. Elgon will not be dictated by outsiders and he is not liable to gauge my loyalty to my party leader,”Kapondi warned.

Evans Chemwotei in his speech, promised that under Kenya Kwanza, shamba system will be reinstated from Kaboywo to Chepkube and food security will be a thing of the past.

Allan Chemaiyek ceased the opportunity to revisit the UDA  party primaries issues stating that his votes were stolen during Mock but the final exams will be free and fair come 9th August.

Ruto who was in his final rally in the region pledged to complete Kapsokwony- Kimilili road and prioritize construction and upgrading of TVETS and polytechnics in Mt. Elgon and Bungoma County at large.
