Kiambu residents have asked government to rescue them from some irresponsible Nairobians turning their tea farms into lodgings.

Over the weekends, the city residents are driving to Limuru, Karirana, Nazareth and Mamburuki areas where they park their cars on the roadside, drink alcohol and others make love inside the tea farms.

According to locals, they find those areas convenient to indulge in immorality because of the serenity and some privacy.

After government ordered closure of pubs as a way of fighting spread of Coronavirus, these drinkers have resorted to road trips to beat the directive.

Residents worries are that after boozing and having sex they leave used condoms that are in turn picked by innocent children.

“We are tired of these people pretending to be on picnic yet they are destroying our farms and children. We have reported to authorities but they are still coming” Joel Maina a resident laments.

Jane Wanjiru, a mother of two says it is disgusting cleaning dirty condoms.

“After they visit this area the following we pick used condoms and alcohol containers before they fall on hands of our kids” Wanjiru laments.

Kiambu County Police Commander Ali Nuno confirmed residents’ cries. He said they will arrest them if they show up this weekend.

Blogger Jane Kogi says it is a don’t care attitude by some middle-class Kenyans that is likely to harm Kiambu residents in many ways including spread of the deadly virus.

“Kenya’s problem is middle class and don’t care attitude. Pathetic” Kogi says.
