The County Government of Nakuru has disbursed Ksh 14,583,500 in bursaries to support underprivileged students in Rongai Sub-County.
This financial aid targets students in public schools and vocational training centers, ensuring equitable access to education, even in the face of the region’s challenges.
The bursary funds were officially distributed during a ceremony held at Kambi ya Moto Primary School. Nakuru Deputy Governor, Hon. David Kone, presided over the event, urging parents to enroll their children in vocational training centers to empower them with practical skills and knowledge for self-reliance.
“Education is the key to transforming our communities. I encourage parents to take advantage of these bursaries and ensure their children are equipped with both academic and technical skills,” said Hon. Kone.
The bursary allocation benefited students from five wards—Soin, Visoi, Menengai West, Monopoly, and Solai. Each beneficiary received Ksh 3,000 to help ease the cost of education.
This initiative is part of the county’s broader strategy to uplift the livelihoods of its residents by investing in education, especially in areas facing economic and environmental hardships.
Hon. Kone reiterated the county’s commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind in accessing quality education. “Through partnerships and consistent support, we aim to create a brighter future for our children and the county at large,” he added.
