The trial of former Migori County Governor Okoth Obado and two other accused persons in the murder case of Sharon Otieno proceeded at the Milimani High Court, where a Prosecution witness from the Cyber Crime Investigations sub-unit, within the Serious Crime unit at DCI Headquarters, took the stand.
Before Justice Cecilia Githua, the witness presented photographic evidence from the alleged murder scene. Testifying, the witness revealed that investigations and interrogations indicated a close relationship between Okoth Obado, his then personal assistant Michael Oyamo, and the deceased.
Highlighting details from the deceased’s body, the witness confirmed visible signs of pregnancy and injuries consistent with a knife wound near the heart.
Post Mortem results disclosed Sharon’s pregnancy at 7 months, with cause of death attributed to severe hemorrhage and features of strangulation, while the unborn child’s demise resulted from abdominal trauma.
DNA test outcomes further pointed to a 99.99% likelihood of Okoth Obado being the father of Sharon Otieno’s unborn child. Additionally, the witness implicated the third accused, Caspal Obiero, in the murder, stating his involvement in procuring the vehicle used in the crime and obtaining falsified medical documents.
The Prosecution, led by Wangui Gichuhi and Allen Mulama, presented these revelations as the trial progresses, shedding light on the alleged roles of the accused. The proceedings are scheduled to continue tomorrow.
