The President of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Richard Ngatia, who withdrew from the Nairobi gubernatorial race at the last minute and was appointed a special envoy for Trade and Industry by President Uhuru Kenyatta, has announced that he is going to campaign for AZIMIO presidential candidate Raila Odinga and Nairobi Jubilee gubernatorial candidate Polycarp Igathe.
Ngatia who made the announcement during an AZIMIO rally at Kamkunji Grounds in Kibra Constituency was widely cheered by area residents when he was given a chance to speak.
Ngatia said he is going to go out of his way to vigorously campaign for Odinga and Igathe to ensure AZIMIO had a clean sweep in Nairobi County.
He urged Nairobi residents to rally behind AZIMIO and vote all aspirants on the party’s ticket from president, Governor, MPs, Women Rep, Senator and Members of the County Assembly (MCAs).
Ngatia said Mr Odinga was the best person to become the president as he had a track of record in fighting for multi-party democracy, human rights and good governance.
It was clear from the reaction of members of the public that they had missed Ngatia after he withdrew from the Nairobi gubernatorial race and were happy to welcome him back into the AZIMIO campaign team.
Ngatia pledged to rally his supporters in Nairobi behind Raila, Igathe and other AZIMIO candidates until they emerge victorious.
“I am going to launch a massive campaign for AZIMIO in Nairobi with immediate effect so as to ensure Nairobi is in safe hands and Raila gets adequate foot soldiers to ensure his not going to be a lame President,” Mr Ngatia who was appointed a presidential special envoy with immediate effect emphasized.
