Nyandarua women rep to Receive Direct UDA Nomination Ticket

Nyandarua Woman representative Faith Wairimu Gitau will receive a direct UDA nomination ticket as no one has announced a bid to challenge her.

The party is expected to hold its nomination exercise nominations between April 9 and April 16.

NEB Chairman Anthony Mwaura had earlier told the media that no candidate will be issued with a direct ticket if he or she has competitors.

He said that the direct ticket will only apply to areas that have only one candidate eyeing a seat.

Speaking , Ms. Faith Gitau said that no one has approached the UDA party to face off with her during the nomination exercise.

She said that she is now concentrating to face off with aspirants from other parties such as Jubilee.

Jubilee is banking on former women representative Wanjiku Wa Muhia to face off with Faith Gitau whom the deputy president has been banking on.

“Since there is no one eyeing the UDA ticket for Nyandarua Women representative seat, I’m privileged that I will be awarded the direct ticket, “she said.

She expressed confidence that she will be re-elected for the second term to deliver on the promises.

UDA party legal secretary-general Edward Muriu cautioned a section of aspirants against peddling rumors to the effect that the party has a preferred candidate ahead of August.

Muriu said that all candidates are equal and no one will enjoy the privilege of direct ticket if there are other candidates interested for the same seat.

He said that the nomination exercise will be free and fair and no one should fear joining the party.

 “UDA party will only issue direct tickets where there are no competitors but where there is more than one, the exercise will be free and fair,” Muriu said.

During the party national delegates’ conference at Kasarani Stadium a week ago, deputy president William Ruto promised free and fair exercise.

He said that the national election board has set out mechanism to ensure that aspirants will be comfortable with the results.

Ruto said that the party will support its own candidates in campaigns to ensure that they form the next government in august.
